DISPOSABLE JACKSON REES CIRCUIT (JR)

GENERIC NAME: ANESTHESIA BREATHING CIRCUIT

INTENDED USE: An assembly of devices designed to conduct medical gases from the fresh gas supply outlet of an anesthesia unit/workstation to the patient.

 

SPECIFICATION:

Purpose: The Jackson Rees Circuit is used in anesthesiology to deliver inhalational anesthetics and oxygen to patients, typically infants and children. It is a modification of the Mapleson F system.

  • Components:
  • Reservoir Bag: Typically, a 500ml or 1L bag, used to provide a visual indication of ventilation and to assist in manual ventilation.
  • Tubing: Flexible, corrugated, disposable tubing connecting the reservoir bag to the patient’s mask or endotracheal tube.
  • Connector/Adaptor: Typically, 15mm to 22mm connectors for attaching to various components, such as a mask or endotracheal tube.
  • Valve: A one-way or adjustable valve may be present, depending on the circuit design, to prevent rebreathing of exhaled gases.
  • Performance:
  • Low-resistance design to facilitate easy breathing for pediatric patients.
  • High flexibility and durability, ensuring it withstands the demands of operating room use.
  • The circuit is designed for single-use to prevent cross-contamination between patients.
